Dr. Collins is pleased to announce her continuing role with the Alliance on Wound Care Stakeholders as the representative for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders is a 501(c)6 multidisciplinary trade association of 16 physician, clinician and patient organizations whose mission is to promote quality care and patient access to wound care products and services through effective advocacy and educational outreach in regulatory, legislative and public arenas.

Dr. Collins has been appointed to ADA’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) work group. The CMS workgroup will provide a mechanism for member input and a forum for the ongoing exchange of ideas with the purpose of helping prospectively develop and refine ADA’s regulatory strategy.

Dr. Collins performed 300+ live body composition analyses for attendees at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care in Dallas. Dr. Collins discussed the link between loss of lean body mass and delayed wound healing.

Dr. Collins is working with HL7 (Health Level Seven) as the lead content expert for the nutrition and wounds interoperability standards for electronic health records (EHRs). HL7 is the global authority on standards for interoperability of health information technology.

Dr. Collins has completed the biomedical infomatics 10 x 10 course at the Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). The 10 x10 program was established in 2005 with the aim to train 10,000 health care and related professionals in medical informatics by the year 2010. The 10 x 10 program provides training to build the workforce that will enable information technology to improve the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of health care.
